Milk and children: features of use without harm to health

“Drink, children, milk, you will be healthy” – this phrase we hear from childhood. Is she fair? How useful is the milk for the baby body, and what should be known about the use of this product according to age?
What do you need to know about milk and baby?
To ensure that lactose contained in milk can be digestible in the body, a special enzyme called lactase should be produced in it. In newborns, the level of this enzyme is very high, since breast milk is the only baby for several months. Over time, when the baby grows, the level of lactase decreases, and in an adult, this enzyme is virtually absent in the body. Therefore, milk is not very well digested by the adult organism, but the dairy products are beneficial for it.

Nature provided the child the opportunity to eat milk. But it’s about mother’s milk, not cows or goats. Well-known pediatrician Yevgeny Komarovsky argues that cow or goat’s milk is not only harmful, but also dangerous for children in the first year of life. And to feed the baby with breast milk or an adapted milk formula is much more correct than the milk of domestic animals. Why is this so?

In breast milk and the mixture there is enough vitamin D, which prevents the development of rickets in the baby. From cow or goat’s milk, this vitamin does not enter the child’s body, because of which the probability of development of rickets is very high.

In cow’s milk, almost 4 times more calcium than in breast, and phosphorus – in three times. Because of this, the baby’s bones begin to grow much faster than necessary, which negatively affects their health. In addition, due to the excessive inflow of phosphorus into the infant’s body, the infant’s kidneys suffer.
Young children often have the intolerance of cow protein, which the child’s body regards as alien. Due to the activation of immunity there is an allergic reaction, in which case no cow’s milk can have any language.

It should be borne in mind that cows and goats, like other domestic animals, are now eating a lot of unnatural food: special fodders, which usually contain hormones, antibiotics. All this affects the quality of milk, which is why it is not recommended to give this product to young children.
At what age can you begin to inject milk into a baby’s diet?
Doctors recommend starting to give milk to the baby when she will be at least 1 year old. It is by this time that its kidneys will mature and will be able to remove all excess phosphorus. The body will already be more adequately perceive cow protein. However, you should not drink a baby milk in liters. A kid at the age of 1 is enough to drink half a cup of milk per day, 2 years – 1 cup, 3 years – 2 cups. After three years, the baby’s body perfectly perceives milk, it can be given in the amount in which it wants.

Consequently, the milk of pets in childhood should be treated with great care. For children under one year it is contraindicated, and at the age of three years its use should be limited. As for the children of the first year of life, it is best to feed them with breast milk with the timely introduction of the right supplements. If there is no possibility of breastfeeding, the adapted milk mix should be preferred.
