A cold without temperature: what is the danger?
The autumn shifting weather promotes the spread of viruses and reduces immunity. Most commonly in the offseason, we have a common cold: if we did not catch a flu or an acute respiratory disease, then a mild ailment, which is not always accompanied by high fever, we used to carry on legs. However, the lack of heat or “harmless” 37.2 ° C does not mean that the disease is not harmful to the body.
Why when the cold, the temperature can remain normal
It is commonly accepted that the cold is a malaise, which occurs on the background of overcooling the body and reducing the body’s defenses. It depends on the immunity, the person gets rid of a slight runny nose, choking in the throat, etc. after having got under a torrential rain and heated up with hot tea or does not get sick at all. Overcooling is a trigger mechanism that activates already existing bacteria, viruses, etc.
First of all, in cases of supercooling, organs in which there may be a focal point of a chronic infection: these are tonsils (glands), sinus of the nose, weakened intestines. Also unstable sesso-emotional states increase the probability of a cold – these are stresses, conflicts, over-fatigue, etc. In such cases, temperatures may not be, or its rates are not too high – it all depends on the individual peculiarities of the organism, the type of bacteria or viruses, as well as the medicines that we begin to take independently with the first manifestations of colds, coughing or coughing in the throat. Many powders, teas, pills and cough syrups, whose composition people do not always study, have antipyretic properties. In this way, you can “suppress” the temperature even if it started to rise.
What is the risk of mild colds?
The temperature is far from the only indicator to be respected, thinking about going to a doctor or not. The cold can be complicated by rather serious illnesses, which proceed without temperature increase: chronic tonsillitis, sinusitis (sinusitis including), bronchitis, pneumonia (inflammation of the lungs).
If one week after a cold you are concerned about a cough, a runny nose (especially thick yellow-green secretions) or nasal congestion, headache, discomfort in the chest area – be sure to show an ENT doctor, a pulmonologist or a physician. The presence of chronic foci of infection in the body can lead to serious diseases of the heart, kidneys, liver, joints and other vital organs. In addition, herpes infection, allergic reaction and even tuberculosis can be hidden under the cold.
How to cure a cold: do I need a doctor?
For the treatment of mild colds in the absence of temperature at home, use:
bed mode If the body temperature is normal or no higher than 37.2 ° C, then stay the same in bed. Otherwise your weakened immunity will not cope and you risk to get a more serious complication with all the consequences and costly treatment.
abundant drink, rest, sleep, thermal procedures – mustard, compresses, warm bath (at a temperature it is impossible, do not forget!)
mandatory wet cleaning and ventilation of the premises. Just assign it to healthy family members.
If during the course you have recovered, it will still be unnecessary to appear later to the doctor, so that he listened to the work of the lungs, to pass analyzes, etc. If, however, no improvement is observed for more than 5 days, then it is impossible to postpone the visit to a specialist; only he can prescribe the correct treatment.
